We're thrilled to present South London Cares' Annual Report for 2018/19. It's packed with details on what we do and why we do it, and stories and beautiful photos of older and younger neighbours sharing time, laughter and new experiences in our great city.
In just five and a half years since we started our work in 2014, 2,928 older and 4,387 younger people in Southwark and Lambeth have done so much together – sharing over 183,000 interactions and nearly 30,000 hours across our rapidly changing landscape, through our Social Clubs, Love Your Neighbour, Outreach and Community Fundraising programmes.
That helps to reduce loneliness amongst older and younger people alike. It helps both generations to feel part of their changing city, rather than left behind by it. It helps people to connect to the past to the present to the future, and therefore feel belonging, purpose and power. And it helps people to feel community and togetherness, at a time when we need community and togetherness.
Thank you to everyone who makes our work possible – from funders, to local businesses, to partners in the proud local voluntary sector and, most importantly, the older and younger neighbours who share time every day through South London Cares Cares. We're so grateful for your support, especially at this disconnecting time.
