On the weekend 110 neighbours, younger and older, came together for a brilliant festive celebration at our Winter Party.
Sid got his incredible battery-powered Christmas jumper on, Dona and Saffina got everyone dancing, volunteer Liv brought the glamour with a glitter and facepaint corner,,and all the neighbours came together for some lovely carol singing led by volunteer Justin. It was an opportunity to celebrate Christmas, but also to celebrate and raise a glass to a great year of social clubs and all the growing friendships between our neighbours.
Throughout December we’ve been putting on special events to keep our community active throughout the winter months. For some of our older neighbours, this time of the year can be particularly difficult, and having a celebration like the one on Saturday can have an uplifting effect. As Bola put it on Saturday, “It feels like a big family!”.
In January, we’ll be continuing to provide fun and exciting events for our older neighbours to enjoy: we’ll be keeping the festivities going!
Finally, a huge thanks to all the local businesses who donated a prize to our raffle at the Winter Party: Canopy Beer, Brixton Cornercopia, Ciaté, Franco Manca, Small White Elephant Peckham, and Sponge and Cream. And a big thanks to the students at Sudbourne Primary School who made Christmas cards for their older neighbours. The gang were thrilled with the prizes, cards and memories they took home.
