Grand total from the Thames Path Challenge announced

Please note: this post is 115 months old and The Cares Family is no longer operational. This post is shared for information only

In September, 27 South London Cares supporters walked 50km from Putney to Runnymede in the Thames Path Challenge. It was a challenging, tiring and tough walk, but our team powered through and kept smiling, despite blisters and exhaustion kicking in.

But the challenge was worth it, as cumulatively, a fantastic £16,615 was raised for South London Cares. What’s more, combined with the fundraising efforts of sister charity North London Cares, a whopping £31,041 was raised across both charities!

It’s a transformative amount and we are so proud of each and every one of our challengers for their creative fundraising efforts. From Great British Bake Off inspired cake sales, to BBQ’s, to clothes swaps, our challengers put the ‘fun’ in fundraising. For our first mass participation fundraiser, £16,615 is a cracking amount and we're proud of everyone who took part.

So huge thumbs up and big thanks to everyone who braved the 50km walk in aid of South London Cares, and to everyone who supported our brave challengers with a donation. Thanks to you, older neighbours will feel valued, vibrant and valued for months to come. From lunch with John in East Dulwich, to baking with Jean and Harry in Brixton, you've helped create conversation and companionship across in Southwark and Lambeth. You guys rock!
