Hilarity for Charity: A South London Cares fundraiser

Please note: this post is 112 months old and The Cares Family is no longer operational. This post is shared for information only

We're excited that on Thursday 3rd March, Stewart Lee is heading up a comedy night in aid of South London Cares at the Leicester Square Theatre.

Fresh from his critically acclaimed A Room With a Stew, Stewart has put together a brilliant line-up of acts for the evening. Hilarity for Charity: A South London Cares fundraiser will feature John Kearns, Earl Okin and Eleanor Tiernan.

As well as plenty of laughter, there will also be the chance to support the charity on the night through a raffle. There'll be some fantastic prizes up for grabs from the likes of Hawksmoor, Time Run, OXO Tower Restaurant, Southwark Brewery and M&S.

We're so excited for the evening and chuffed that such a fabulous bunch of comedians have come together in support of South London Cares. But cracking comedy is not complete without an amazing audience, so we hope to see as many of you guys there as possible.

About the acts

After a successful run at the Leicester Square Theatre, Stewart Lee is currently touring his critically acclaimed A Room With a Stew. The show will become the 4th series of Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle. Stewart has also written for radio, magazines and newspapers, and mentions this gig in the footnote of this Guardian article.

John Kearns won the 2014 Foster's Edinburgh Comedy award after being named best newcomer in the two ears previous. His absurd comedy and improvisation skills have also seen him get nominations from Chortle and the Melbourne Comedy Awards.

The immaculately tailored comedian and musician Earl Okin wrote '60s pop hits for Cilla Black, toured with Wings, plays a mean invisible trumpet, was an alternative comedian before it was strictly necessary, and continues to be one of the the all-time greats of live comedy.

Eleanor Tiernan is a hugely experienced Irish Stand up comedian, newly relocated to London, who's appeared on Comedy Central's Alternative Comedy Experience. Her deadpan combination of the playfully wry, the bluntly controversial and the deeply thoughtful make her a unique and quietly hilarious voice.

We hope you can join for a night of fabulous comedy, all in aid of South London Cares!
