This week, our supporter Nick from partners Octopus Investments, is taking on an incredible challenge for South London Cares.
He's planning to swim the length of the Channel, cycle 100 miles, and run a marathon – all in one week.
"I'm 39 years old and looking for a new challenge", said Nick. "So I came up with the idea of a triathlon. But I can't swim very well and I don't have a bike, so that doesn't set me up!"
But that didn't stop Nick from setting himself this mammoth goal. If anything, it motivated him even more. So this week, he'll be swimming every morning and evening Monday to Friday, cycling for five hours on Saturday and running 26.2 miles on Sunday. We are tired just thinking about it!
In this short video, Nick explains the challenge and why he's fundraising for South London Cares. He's already begun his adventure; "At 6.45 this morning I entered the pool", he tells us. "I felt like there should have been some dramatic X-Factor type music or at least some dry ice. Instead as I pushed off the wall I just said “one”.
We'll be keeping you updated with Nick's efforts throughout the week, so please stay posted. You can see his fundraising page, make a donation and read more from Nick here.
Good luck Nick! It's amazing!
