There are 50,000 older people living in Southwark and Lambeth. One of those neighbours is Tony. Tony was born in south London and has lived on the Old Kent Road for 30 years. And for the last 30 years, he’s felt alone. He feels as if he’s got no one to talk to.
Sadly, Tony’s story is not uncommon. Two fifths of older people say the TV is their main form of company. I think we all agree it shouldn’t be this way.
Money raised during 7 Days to Raise will will help support South London Cares' summer activities allowing neighbours like Tony to share company, laughter and friendship.
This May, we’re assembling a team of heroes. We want as many of our South London Cares family as possible to join us for 7 Days to Raise!
During the week of Monday 9th to Sunday 15th May, you’re invited to hold a fundraising event – either at home, work or in your community – to raise money for South London Cares and help tackle isolation and loneliness on your doorstep.
You could hold a bake sale, run a sweepstake, or host a pub quiz. Indeed, any fundraising you do that week will help your older neighbours feel on top of the world.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re time rich or time poor; there’s a way you can play your part and make a difference. Our fundraising goody pack has 12 fun fundraising events for you to pick from, and of course you could come up with your own! Why not get together with friends, colleagues or family to share the fundraising joy?
It couldn’t be easier to get involved and raise money to tackle loneliness on your doorstep. Register your interest by filling out the form below. Emily will then be in touch with a fundraising goody pack, full of ideas, tips and support to make your event a success.
