Merry Christmas from South London Cares!

Please note: this post is 101 months old and The Cares Family is no longer operational. This post is shared for information only

Amongst festive preparations and the last few frantic days this week, we wanted to take a moment to wish you a very Merry Christmas from all of us at South London Cares!

As we give 2016 our goodbyes before welcoming in 2017, we’d like to thank our community of volunteers and supporters for all that you’ve done to bring friendship, fun and new connections to your older neighbours.

Everything that South London Cares does to support older south Londoners is down to the your time, personality, energy and kindness given by our volunteers and supporters. Tackling isolation and loneliness is a long game, and your commitment and help is central to it.

You create the party atmosphere at social clubs, you have that cheering-up conversation with someone feeling in need of a boost and you visit your neighbours at home when they can't get out much.

In just a year, you’ve brought fun and conversation to your older neighbours including Peggy, Gloria and Tony at 254 social clubs from Bermondsey to Brixton. Meanwhile, 172 older and younger neighbours have become friends and spent quality time together one to one through our Love Your Neighbour programme.

Some of you have even given your time to fundraise for us through bake sales, comedy gigs, marathons, donations, 100km walks and so much more. Our thanks go out to each and every one of you for raising money for your older neighbours.

Here's our Christmas present to you: the Peckham choir crew, demonstrating their tunefulness together. We wish you have a restful and fun break over Christmas. We can’t wait to see you in 2017!

Christmas love from the South London Cares team x
