This morning, Nick completed stage one of his triathlon in aid of South London Cares.
At the crack of dawn, he finished swimming the length of the channel in his local swimming pool – a total of 35,400m over five days. Well done Nick!
Each morning and evening this week, Nick has been swimming. He has completed an average of 160 lengths each session. That's hard for anyone, but for Nick, who is new to swimming, it is exceptional.
"I have had a celebratory pain au chocolat and a day of rest follows", he told us this morning.
"When I finished, no one else around me knew what I had completed. So they might have wondered why I punched the water and shouted 'yes!'"
The swim was stage one of Nick's triathlon in aid of South London Cares. He is swimming the length of the channel, cycling 100 miles and running a marathon, in 24 hours over seven days this week. It's an inspiring feat.
The goodwill from his colleagues, family and most importantly you guys – our South London Cares supporters – has been fantastic, and has certainly kept Nick motivated. So thank you!
Now for the cycle and run. Keep the support, best wishes and kudos coming; Nick is going to need it to help him through the last two legs!
Thank you Nick and good luck!
