November social clubs: what are you waiting for!

It may be getting colder, but November is the start of the season of fireworks and fun. And at SLC, this month is bursting with 20 exciting events to help you to share the joy with your older neighbours, and feel part of your community.

With darker evenings and colder weather, this time of year can be particularly isolating for your older neighbours, so why not help them to get out and join in with the fun? London has so much to offer - but not everyone feels part of it.

These occasions serve a greater purpose than to watch a new film or bake a cake. They offer a chance for young professionals and older neighbours - groups of south Londoners who don't often meet - to share stories, to learn, to laugh and to build the types of friendships and social networks that really matter.

We hear from older neighbours how much they value spending time meeting you - our volunteers. Having a purpose, spending quality time, having a laugh, feeling lifted - however it's said, it's about making your older neighbours feel more cared for, more valued and more part of the community. But don’t take it from me:

Alan from Borough told us "it's great to come to something with a buzz around it. I spend such a lot of time by myself, that I really look forward to being in a room full of interesting people!"
