Last week we celebrated our first birthday: twelve months since we started up connecting older and younger south Londoners. 365 days of company, conversation and companionship to tackle isolation and loneliness in Southwark and Lambeth.
And we've only just begun! The fun doesn't stop there just because the summer is coming to an end. For some of our older neighbours who find it hard to get out and about and enjoy all that London has to offer, the start of autumn can feel like doom and gloom.
That's where you come in. Our Social Clubs bring together young professionals and older neighbours to hang out together, to learn, to laugh and to build the types of friendships and connections that really matter.
In September there are 23 social clubs for you to be part of to help older neighbours feel valued and appreciated. We'll be channelling the Great British Bake Off in Bermondsey, helping older neighbours get to grips with technology in Brixton and getting competitive at games nights in Walworth.
But the main event is the company and personality you bring, which older neighbours like Liz and Richard say makes them feel lifted and gives them a new lease of life. You can continue to make a difference by spending some of your spare time hanging out with your older neighbours. And if you're new to South London Cares, check out our new film.
