Loneliness Week (13th-17th June) is next month. London is an amazing city, but living here can also leave people feeling anonymous, isolated and lonely. It can be difficult to acknowledge feeling this way, so we wanted to celebrate the bravery of our younger neighbours and the energy they put into supporting other south Londoners to build new connections.

One in four adults feel lonely some or all of the time, and you're more likely to feel lonely if you're younger and live in a big city like London. Connecting with others and taking part in activities are recognised as important ways to improve feelings of loneliness. At South London Cares, a big part of our work is making sure that both our younger and older neighbours can forge mutual friendships and have fun doing so.

To extend the hand of friendship further, South London Cares invites you to join us for All Together Week, a series of events to thank and support new and current younger neighbours during Loneliness Week (13th-17th June).

Read below to find out more and sign up here!

2 ) Training by The British Red Cross – Tackling Loneliness - 14th June, lunctime

This is an hour and a half training session run by The British Red Cross, talking about how to identify and understand loneliness in the people around you and ways to approach it. This event will held online over Zoom.

3) Younger Neighbour Social – 16th June, evening

As part of Loneliness Week, we want to celebrate YOU – our younger neighbours! So, we're hosting a get together of younger neighbours from all our programmes. We'll have drinks, food and music, along with few speeches from our programmes leads letting you know about the important work you have been involved in! We're also inviting NEW younger neighbours to join so they can meet are community and hear first hand what it means to be a South London Cares volunteer! This event will be in-person – venue TBC.

We're still planning other events, so watch this space!

We hope to see you there 💕
