Every year, we rely on the money raised by our amazing volunteers organising bake sales, quizzes and concerts.

With so many of these events cancelled, this month, we need volunteers to run virtual fundraising events to support our virtual social clubs.

To Help Us Deliver Virtual Social Clubs To Older Neighbours Self Isolating During The Covid 19 Crisis

As lockdown continues, it’s amazing to see the inventive ways that people are finding to connect and keep one another entertained online - from virtual comedy clubs, to weekly Zoom pub quizzes.

But many older neighbours have few online connections and need help getting online. That’s why South London Cares is supporting older neighbours to set up Zoom, including Peter (83) who thoroughly enjoyed seeing familiar faces at his first Virtual Social Club:

"It was a real breakthrough wasn’t it! You all worked wonders!! (and even overcame my laptop incompetence) It’s a brilliant idea and now I’m looking forward to maybe trying other virtual meetings."

Once online, older and younger neighbours have been sharing time, laughter and conversation at our virtual Social Clubs, from our Desert Island Discs club to chair yoga.

We need your support to continue this work  – which is why we’re asking you to “socialise for social clubs.”

We have created simple guides on running a virtual pub quiz, Stars In Their Eyes night and Desert Island Discs night to raise money for South London Cares.

To support us with a virtual event...

  • Download one of our resources below or dream up your own idea for a virtual fundraiser. We have created simple guides on running a virtual pub quiz, Stars In Their Eyes night and Desert Island Discs night.
  • Set a date and invite family and friends to take part.
  • Suggest a donation for taking part - we suggest a £5 donation per person or setting a target which attendees help you to reach. You can ask people to donate directly or set up a page on JustGiving or Facebook.

If you have any questions, just send me an email, and I will be happy to support you.
