When is it?
Saturday 29th July, 11am-5pm, in Walworth.
What is it about?
The South London Cares community is coming together to celebrate our third birthday in a very special way: through a Treasure Hunt & Birthday Party Extravaganza!
This one-of-a-kind treasure hunt is based on many of our neighbours’ local memories. It aims to celebrate south London’s intriguing history, as well as our gang’s quirky anecdotes about where we call home.
The treasure hunt will be followed by our third birthday party, which this year is inspired by the theme ‘time-travel’.
How does it work?
Teams of five will orienteer around north Lambeth and Walworth through a specially designed map. Your aim will be to find the locations connected to your older and younger neighbours’ memories, and carry out special tasks to win points.
The treasure hunt will finish at our birthday party in Walworth, where we’ll celebrate three years of fun and laughter along the lines of this year’s theme, ‘time-travel’.
We’ll dance, have birthday cake and a toast in style, not to mention our epic raffle. You will also be judged on your tasks and the winning team will be announced, and given a special prize.
How do I sign up?

I can no longer attend, what should I do?
If you can no longer attend, please let Elyssa know as soon as possible by emailing: [email protected].
It’s very important you let us know that you can’t attend as soon as possible, so we're able to appropriately prepare for the event.
Can my friends, who aren’t volunteers, join in?
Unfortunately this is a special event only for volunteers who have already attended an induction (you don’t have to have come along to a Social Club yet though!).
Teams
Teams of 5 will be allocated on the day. You will remain with this team throughout the treasure hunt.
My friends have signed up - can I be on a team with them?
We will make every effort that teams of friends can remain together on the day, but can’t guarantee this.
Will there be a lot of walking?
Yes! You will be orienteering throughout Lambeth North and Walworth, expect a good 2 hours of walking.
Do I need to bring anything?
Make sure you:
- Have your phone! Your phone is essential, as you will need it to access the memories. Therefore, if your phone has any battery issues, please also make sure you bring a powerbar - it won’t be as fun if your phone dies halfway through!
- Download a QR Code scanner on your phone. More details will be sent closer to the event.
- Wear comfortable shoes
- Any snacks or water you may want over the course of the Treasure Hunt
- Bring a waterproof
