In case you've missed it, it's nearly Christmas and it's all that most of us are thinking about. So you might find it a strange question to ask, but what are your plans for January?
The beginning of a new year can feel like a dreary time for most of us: battling the cold weather, attempting post-Christmas diets and watching our bank balances recover from festive fun. And it can be a particularly isolating time for some of our older neighbours. The long, dark evenings can feel even more lonesome, not a mince pie in sight, and a sense that there's even less to look forward to.
That's where you come in. Can you help Patsy, Gloria and Arthur to continue the good cheer into the New Year, by signing up to be part of our January events? Every social club is about creating new connections and conversations which make you and your older neighbours days just that bit better and brighter.
Peter told us recently: "Social clubs have changed my life. When I lost my wife, my life suddenly felt meaningless and my sense of purpose really took a dive. But meeting so many wonderful, vibrant young people who take a genuine interest in your life, well, it's changed everything - I feel so invigorated."
As well as all the usual wonderful social club staples including tech workshops, film clubs, quiz nights and choir, for this month only, you could also bust a move at our Burns Night ceilidh in West Norwood or dust off your best Elvis impersonation at our Presley party in Brixton!
To sign up to any of our 22 social clubs (dates below), please email [email protected] to sign up. South London Cares' Christmas break is from 23rd Dec until 4th January, so please do email over the holiday, and we'll get back to you in the new year.
Thank you for all that you do to keep our social clubs as fun, vibrant and as sociable as possible. We can't wait to see you in January, and hope you have very merry Christmas!
