Too soon? January social clubs

Your presence at social clubs really makes all the difference to your older neighbours. This month we met Kathleen, 69, through the Winter Wellbeing project. When she heard about the social clubs she said, “This has made my day, I didn’t know activities like this existed for people like me!”. After going along to a technology workshop Valerie, 77, shared, “I’m absolutely beaming! This has been such wonderful help.” 

So please help us to create cheer and joy beyond Christmas and the new year by joining your older neighbours at one (or two, or even three) of our 21 spectacular social clubs in January.

You could kick start 2018 by bringing a dish to our New Year’s Feast in Brixton, where we’ll be toasting to good health and nibbling tasty treats. You could try something new, and come to a Miniature Garden Making Workshop in Lambeth North, or even dance the January blues away at our Burns Night Ceilidh in West Norwood. And if you’ve ever wondered about volunteering at a tech workshop but wanted to know more before signing up, we hope our recent blog will inspire you to share tech tips with Albert, Mary and co.

You’ve also made a huge difference this winter through your support for the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2017. With your help, we managed to raise a gigantic £11,263.25 – thank you! You’ve helped us to reach more people over 65 who are dealing with loneliness and cold conditions at home this winter. We can’t thank you enough.

All that’s left to be said is merry Christmas and a happy new year from South London Cares. We hope it’s filled with sparkles, good cheer and great company.
