So, what's this January thing all about? For us at South London Cares it will involve earlier mornings than times of late, less pastry-based food, and planning an exciting new year connecting young volunteers to their older neighbours across south London.
The South London Cares team is feeling nostalgic for the present today. Almost exactly 6 months ago SLC was just about to get started, putting planning into action. We're so proud of what all our volunteers have achieved already..!

This week the weather has taken a predictable turn. It’s colder, darker and not quite as nice to get out. We’re constantly aware of this and live up to the expectations of reserved Brits casually interested in chatting about the weather.
This week South London Cares will be four months old! Since we started up in July we've begun to grow our network of volunteers to mobilise young professionals to connect with and support their older neighbours across Southwark and Lambeth. It's been an exciting and fast few months.
South London Cares is now 3 months old and we're so excited about our growing variety of social clubs for volunteers to get to know their older neighbours.
In a few weeks, volunteers have already met so many wonderful people through their interactions with South London Cares. One of those great neighbours is Richard, who joined us for the first time last week at our Bermondsey comedy evening, and then again at our Social Club on Friday...
Have you ever wondered what sort of jokes you'll laugh at when you're 70 or 80? Last night South London Cares embarked on a beautiful friendship based on laughter and storytelling with older neighbours from across Southwark and Lambeth.

These are opportunities for you to share time, conversation, skills and new experiences - and to build new relationships - with our older neighbours across Southwark and Lambeth.
