We're really proud to present South London Cares' third annual report. The report is packed with stories, data, images and case studies about our programmes, finances and the impact of younger and older neighbours sharing time, laughter and new experiences in our rapidly changing city.
This month we caught up with Barbara and Naomi in Camberwell. The neighbours were introduced a year and a half ago through our Love Your Neighbour programme, and hang out together every other Tuesday for a few hours. They told us about their extraordinary friendship and experience together on the Love Your Neighbour programme.
Want an evening of good food, great drinks and wonderful entertainment? Then do join us at the iconic Oxo Tower on Monday 30th April for our dinner in aid of South London Cares.
"I have been introduced to activities and events that I would never have thought of, been to, or indeed had the courage to attend or take part in otherwise." Fadha started coming along to social clubs at the beginning of 2017. She never would have imagined that a year on, she'd have tried her hand and boxing and bricklaying. In 2016 we made it to Cambridge. In 2017 we walked to Brighton. Could you walk 50 or 100km with us in 2018?
One year ago, Emily, a writer and poet, started leading our Creative Writing social club in Clapham. Here she sums up what makes it so special: "We’ve laughed, we’ve cried and we’ve learnt a lot about each other – celebrating the many different ways we all look at the world and how the words we put on paper reflect the lives we’ve lived."
Gary looks back on a year of volunteering with South London Cares and shares how getting to know his older neighbours has changed his perspective and enriched his life.
