This week our volunteers have hit an impressive 1,000 hours of time as part of the South London Cares family. That's 1,000 hours of laughter, friendship and connections made with our older neighbours in Southwark and Lambeth.
Spring is a time of new beginnings and optimism, but it's important to remember that for some people new beginnings and experiences can be hard to come by. This is why South London Cares volunteers regularly spend some spare time with their older neighbours - and also because it's loads of fun!
Last week our volunteer network responded to help an older neighbour going through a difficult time. It was a reminder how much people care - and how supportive our community networks can be when we reach out!
Our Love Your Neighbour scheme introduces neighbours in South London who wouldn't have the chance to meet organically. For both older and younger people, it's a chance to learn from another perspective, build a new connection and create regular company and companionship with a neighbour.
